I Drew This Map for My New Book Conor Kelly and The Fenian King

This map shows all the places in Ireland Conor visits on his search to find The Fenian King. I used Campaign Cartographer 3 by ProFantasy Software. As Conor’s quest takes place mostly in the present, I didn’t want it to look like an antique map or have too much of a fantasy feel about it, but just enough to add a hint of magic and mythology. Please bear in mind, it is not intended to be an accurate to- scale map. For the ebook, it will be converted into greyscale, but I thought you might like to see it in colour.

          • My bow is stout and arrows true! . I have actually had three main careers in my life, Ali. I retired from the U.S. military with honors after twenty years. Then I spent twenty years on the professional art show circuit traveling throughout the U.S. (mainly in the southeast) working in multi-mediums including stone and wood carving, oil, acrylic, and pen and ink, and watercolor renderings. I retired from that and began writing, tending my small herb and vegetable gardens and baking bread. A blessed life for sure. Don’t have much of my artwork left; most of it is in private collections. I’ll dig around and see if I can find and post some pictures.

            • What a life you have led! No wonder you turned to writing, you must have so much to tell. It would be fabulous to see some posts and pictures of your artwork. You must be a very creative person.

    • Well I have it on my laptop… what would you want to use it on? You are far more savvy with technology than me… the results are good but I dont find it easy to use!

      • I’ve just tried using an alternative program and given up with it.
I have made maps for Steve Smy’s books in the past and have been looking for ways (apart from hand drawing them) to make sharper images to insert into the upcoming books being prepared by Steve’s Son (after Steve died last November) πŸ˜€

    • Hardly! But bless you for mentioning my name in the same sentence as them πŸ˜ƒ

I have only scratched the surface of what that program can do. Someone more technically minded could work wonders with it.

I would love to set up an interactive map like you have for all the sites featured in the trilogy. It would be cool to have it set up the way your interactive is using all the little depictions you can use etc. Not only that, but you can make maps of buildings… imagine clicking on your interactive, getting through to your posts and images as the building exists now, with a CC3 plan of how the building looked when it was built!
