Covered in blood

Covered in blood

Some people say that the internet community is not really composed of actual friends. I always felt that wasn’t true, and now, after yesterday’s experience, I know it.

I’ll admit I was fragile yesterday. I know if I had reached out into my physical locality, I would have found love and support from my ‘real’ friends, but I actually couldn’t face facing people, if you know what I mean.

So I poured it all out here, and you rallied round. It was amazing, and humbling. Something I am grateful for, and will never forget.

But what you really want to know is, how is Carys?

Well, she is a little star! Daddy brought her home about 1pm. She looked like she’d been in a war zone, she was covered in blood, and I mean, it was everywhere! But she smiled, she ate and drank, took her meds, played, interacted and was completely and utterly charming, as if nothing had ever happened.

9 perfect baby teeth

But wait till you hear what they did to her! Removed 9 baby teeth, because they were obstructing her adult teeth and preventing them from coming down; four fillings, and snipped the skin flap which joins her bottom lip to her gums, because it was too small and tight.

Poor little girl!

Anyway, thank you for all your kindness, support, caring comments and love for Carys. Have a great weekend, everyone. xxx

    • Sorry I’m so late getting to your comment, Dalo… I don’t know how I missed it. Thank you for your good wishes. She is mostly sweet, but this weekend has turned into quite a little demon, for some reason I can’t fathom!

  3. And, yes, I found that my internet friends are really wonderful. I used to not understand that until I experienced it myself. Lots of love out there from strangers. You are so dear, Ali, with your vulnerability, and it makes it easy for us to come forward with support.

    • Aw thank you. 😊 Yes, I don’t think it’s something anyone can appreciate until the experience it for themselves.

    • She left clean. But the blood kept coming. And coming. Thats how she looked by the time she got home. Its normal. Luckily it’s just about stopped. I’ve been doing a lot of washing of bedding and clothes since she came home lol!

  5. That was the best news I could have woken up to this morning. I’m so so so thrilled that all went well for your brave little girl. Have a lovely, fun-filled weekend, all of you. xx (In the photo she has this, ‘What was all the fuss about, Mum?’ look on her face. Bless.

  6. Hurrah! I’m so thankful that all is well. I also had to have baby teeth removed because they were stopping my grownup teeth from coming through. I was older at the time and earned the nickname Miss Toothless Wonder! Hugs!

  9. Ali, I’m so sorry! I had no idea there had been a drama. What’s wrong with WP? Poor Carys and poor you. She’s a tough little cookie and she’ll be right as rain after a tub or two of ice cream. Her parents are the ones who’ll remember. Now, to find the post that explains what happened…

    • Thank you! And that’s the best thing, watching it happen… she has achieved more in this last nine months than she has in the rest of her little life, which is so amazing.

  11. Oh wow! Somehow I missed this. So sorry you had to go through that. Bless her little heart, and yours too. Hang in there mama. Does she have pain? Hope she’s got something to ease it. It’s so hard on the little ones. Read her stories and give lots of hugs. I know that works for me. πŸ˜€

    • It all turned out fine, thank you. She’s healing up nicely, no sign of the new teeth coming through as yet, but she has a checkup in the morning, so we’ll have a good idea of what’s going on then.
