    • It’s just my little way of trying to gain confidence and experience, Γ‰ilis. I’m rubbish at public speaking. I freeze when everyone’s attention is on me and get completely tongue tied. Don’t know why. Just happens.

      • I know what you mean, I get nervous too. Even more so if there’s visuals because I have to deal with that all elusive and perplexing bit about body language. You came across to me as really articulate and informed, Ali. πŸ™‚

  1. hey a movie star!! And I thought my ego was huge! Go Ali. All you need is a little person walking across behind you and it would be perfect!

    • Oh you’re funny! Yes, I have one particular little person who’d love to get in on the act. Actually, he’s not so little. I’m just trying to practice my speaking skills. As you can see, I’ve got some way to go. But we all have to start somewhere! 😊

  2. Aren’t you brave! I so admire you, Ali, it’s not something I’d ever tackle, and I’ve done loads of voice-overs for films. The idea of me speaking and people pointing and saying ‘so that’s her!’ gives me cold shivers.

    • Haha! I know. I hate people looking at me. But I get asked to speak about Irish mythology so often that I think it’s something I need to do. This is working up to it. So tell me more about the voice overs…. sounds intriguing! A side of you I never knew. Spill!!!

      • It’s nothing glamorous. I translated films for companies like Ford and Chanel, publicity stuff or health and safety for employees. Ford want to have all the information given to their French employees translated into English for the benefit of visiting executives. I’ve done some really strange ones, like sugar beet transformation, and carousel horse production.

          • It wasn’t a regular job. When we lived in the north most of the work came from a local company. They still send me things occasionally but there’s the hassle of finding a recording studio that will do it for a price within their range. Since they do the recording themselves usually it puts the price up a hell of a lot.

  3. Great VLOG, Ali. I think they make such a difference. They give an even more personal touch in that it’s almost as if you were just talking to me while we were having a cup of coffee.
    Looking very good as well.

    • Aw thank you, you lovely man! I’m trying to improve my speaking and increase my confidence, as I get so many invitations to speak about Irish mythology that I’m starting to feel now that I should be saying yes, if I want more people to become interested in it. This one only took about 5 takes lol! The last one took about 20! I just freeze when I feel anyone’s eyes on me. Also I don’t like the sound of my voice, or the number of ‘erm’s which creep in as I try to gather my thoughts. But if I don’t try, I won’t get any better. Thanks for your support… it means a lot! 😊

      • Well, you’re certainly doing the right thing by trying out a VLOG post, Ali. I hate the sound of my own voice as well. I think most people feel the same about their own voices. It’s good to see you going forward with this. Once you get up there and do your speeches then it will open new doors. Maybe just the one to start with, but more and more will open. Keep doing it, Ali. Now you’ve started, keep going.
BTW – Happy Birthday for tomorrow. I’m saying it now because I’m just about to leave for London for the weekend and I won’t have much time for the blogging etc. I hope you have a wonderful day. πŸŽ‚

        • Ah thank you so much! I will be out in the wilds of Ireland, trekking the Burren Way with my lovely friend Jenni. In the rain and wind probably. 😊 but it will blow the cobwebs away and give me the break I really need right now. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too.
